MovieKingdom Entertainment Platform

MovieKingdom is a diverse cinematic platform that provides linear and Video-on-Demand (VOD) channels dedicated to Black cinema, enhancing the viewing experience through optimized monetization strategies.

Project Description

MovieKingdom Pictures Inc. stands as a leading entity in the film and video production industry, dedicated to delivering a wide range of cinematic content that celebrates diversity, particularly within Black cinema. To enhance their digital presence and offer unique viewing experiences, MovieKingdom embarked on a project to develop both a linear channel and a Video-on-Demand (VOD) application tailored for their brand, Black Movie Max. The initiative aimed to allow audiences access to an expansive library of Black films and TV shows, seamlessly integrated on powerful platforms such as Roku and OTTera. This was complemented by the development of the Free Black Cinema channel, another cornerstone striving to enrich viewers' appreciation for Black storytelling. Key to the project's success was the inclusion of ad breaks to monetize the channels effectively, using pre-roll, mid-roll, and post-roll placements to align with the industry's best practices. By leveraging the capabilities of the Roku self-developer platform, integrating Vimeo showcase, and utilizing VAST code, a seamless and exceptional entertainment platform was established for MovieKingdom's users. The initiatives further extended MovieKingdom's reach by featuring cloned versions of their channels on YouTube, ensuring accessibility and adaptability to various viewer preferences. This comprehensive approach not only optimizes the user experience but also ensures that MovieKingdom remains at the forefront of delivering quality Black cinema content across multiple platforms.

Scope of Work

The primary objective of this project was to broaden MovieKingdom's digital footprint by creating specialized channels that celebrate Black cinema. Initially, our goal was to build a linear channel for Black Movie Max on the OTTera platform, complemented by a VOD app for the same brand hosted on the muvi platform. A significant part of this initiative was the replacement of the existing Movie Kingdom with the Free Black Cinema channel on Roku. With a focus on monetization, the strategy included incorporating ad breaks throughout the channels — pre-roll, mid-roll, and post-roll placements — to ensure a seamless revenue-generating viewing experience. Another crucial challenge was to elevate the channels' functionality and user engagement, ultimately delivering an outstanding entertainment platform for MovieKingdom's clientele. The project required meticulous planning and execution of development strategies that tailored the entertainment platform to diverse audience needs, thereby aligning with MovieKingdom Pictures Inc.'s vision to amplify the reach and impact of Black cinema.

Our Solution

In addressing the client's diverse needs, a comprehensive solution was developed that included the creation and implementation of multiple channels and applications on various platforms. We crafted the 'Black Movie Max' linear channel on the OTTera platform while concurrently developing a Video-on-Demand (VOD) application on the muvi platform, both tailored to cater to the specific desires of the MovieKingdom audience. Simultaneously, a replacement for the Movie Kingdom was set up on Roku as the Free Black Cinema channel. This entailed a meticulous design and programming process on the Roku self-developer platform, where Vimeo showcase technology and VAST code were utilized to enhance the user interface and viewing experience. One notable achievement was the development of cloned versions of the Free Black Cinema and Black Movie Max channels on YouTube, expanding the content's accessibility. This solution leveraged state-of-the-art technologies and adhered to industry standards, thereby solidifying MovieKingdom's brand presence. The seamless integration of advertising and monetization strategies optimally supported the longevity and profitability of the channels.
